That $30 tarp clamp set flipped my opinion on cheap storage covers

For two winters my patio furniture sat under a flimsy tarp that shredded after the first snowstorm in Denver, so I figured all covers were a waste of money. Last month I tried a $30 pack of reinforced tarp clamps along with a heavier 10 mil tarp, and the setup survived 45 mph gusts without a single tear. Has anyone else had luck beefing up cheap tarps instead of spending $150 on a branded cover?

Yeah but what actually held up, the clamps or the tarp its own self? I'm wondering if the 10 mil was doing most of the work and the clamps just stopped the flapping. I tried doubling up on a cheap blue tarp once and the grommets ripped clean out before the wind even got bad, so I'm curious if you anchored through the grommets or clamped around the edges instead. Cause if it's the clamping method that saved it, that changes everything for me.
