TIL stacking plastic bins wrong will ruin your tools

I had all my yard tools in these cheap plastic bins from Home Depot. Stacked them three high in the corner of my shed. Wanted to grab my loppers last week and the bottom bin just gave out. The lid cracked and the whole stack came down. Everything got scratched and bent. Learned that those bins aren't meant for heavy stacking. Especially in summer heat when the plastic gets soft. Anyone else had a bin fail on them like that?

How much weight was in the top bins when that bottom one gave out?

Oh boy, that's the million dollar question isn't it. Did anyone actually check the rated weight limits on those bins before stacking them that high?

Paid 55 cents a pound at the recycling center last week. Those cheap plastic bins crack if you look at them wrong. My bet is the bottom one was already split before they even stacked the second one on top.
