Took a risk on a shed-in-a-box kit over custom built, zero regrets so far

Honestly, I spent 3 weekends comparing quotes for a custom 10x12 shed and it was coming in at $3,800 plus labor. Then I saw a metal kit from Lowes for $1,100 and figured I'd gamble on it. Took me and my buddy about 14 hours over two Saturdays to assemble, and the instructions were actually decent. The floor kit they sold separate was the tricky part, needed to level it on paver stones first. It's been through two heavy rain storms here in Portland and not a single leak. Has anyone else tried the cheaper kits and ended up happy, or did I just get lucky?

Used to think the kits were flimsy junk honestly, but your leak-free rain test here in Portland is pretty convincing. Might have to eat my words on that one.

Took mine out in that surprise downpour last month and the roof corners held up fine. I did add a couple of extra stakes around the base before the rain hit, which probably made the difference. Also made sure the fly was pulled tight, not saggy anywhere. That's the trick, getting it snug like a drum. Once I did that, no more puddles on the floor in the morning. Everything stayed dry inside, even my sleeping bag that was touching the wall.
