Tried those plastic deck boxes from Home Depot...

Picked up one of those big resin deck boxes for $150 last spring to store my garden tools. After 8 months the lid warped so bad it won't close all the way and water just pools on top. Anyone else had this happen or did I just pick the wrong brand?

Wow, that's rough. I actually read somewhere that a lot of those plastic bins have trouble with UV exposure from the sun, especially the cheaper ones. The plastic gets brittle and warps way faster than you'd think. I saw a tip in a gardening group to put a wood frame inside the lid to help it keep its shape, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a simple box. What brand was yours, just so I know which ones to stay away from?

Is it possible the sun is just making the plastic expand unevenly rather than actually breaking it down? I've noticed some bins warp back to shape when they cool off at night, so it might be more about the temperature swings than UV damage alone.

All plastic bins hate the sun, not just cheap ones.
