Visited my buddy's shed in Phoenix and saw a wall of rubbermaid bins with labels...

I stopped by my friend Mark's place last weekend in Phoenix, he's got a 10x12 shed packed with tools and camping gear. What caught my eye was how he had about 15 clear plastic bins stacked on metal shelving, each one labeled with a sharpie and masking tape. He said it took him a whole afternoon to sort everything out after a monsoon flooded his old cardboard boxes last summer. Has anyone else dealt with humidity ruining their storage containers, or am I overthinking this?

Five years ago I lost a whole bin of winter clothes to mold in my garage.

Five years ago I kept my winter clothes in a plastic bin with no ventilation and lost a bunch of sweaters to mold too. But actually mold needs moisture so they were probably already damp when you put them in there lol.

Oh Alice I had the exact same thing happen back in 2008 with an old footlocker trunk in my basement. The cedar lining didn't help either because the wool sweaters were just a little bit damp from being brought in from the garage. I found a beautiful hand knit cardigan my grandmother made completely ruined and I still feel sick about it. You're right about the moisture being the problem, I think most people don't realize how fast that mold can take hold once the lid is sealed shut.
