2% milk or almond for the math club bake sale, I did the percentages wrong and lost $48
I was in charge of buying supplies for our bake sale last Saturday and had to pick between a $3.50 gallon of 2% and a $5.50 carton of almond milk for the coffee station. I figured almond would stretch further because I thought almond milk lasted longer, but I miscalculated the shelf life by a full week and half the carton spoiled by noon. Ended up dumping 3 cups down the sink and had to refund 4 people who got lumpy coffee. The 2% would have worked with the $1.50 I saved on cherries. Has anyone else lost money on a food math mistake that seemed logical at the time?
