A cashier in Tulsa tried to give me $10 back on a $7 order and my brain froze for a full 30 seconds
I was at a hardware store in Tulsa grabbing some caulk and sandpaper, total came to $7.43, and I handed the kid a $10 and then started digging for exact change like an idiot. He said "you already gave me enough" and handed me back $2.57, and for some reason my brain just would not accept it. I stood there doing the math in my head three times, counting on my fingers under the counter like it was a pop quiz, and he just stared at me waiting. Finally I took the change and walked out feeling like I'd failed a test a 5th grader could pass. The worst part is I do this every single time someone gives me change, I trust the register more than my own head now. Does anyone else just blank on basic subtraction in the checkout line or is it just me losing it at 40?
