heard a cashier say 10% of 80 is 8, then told a customer it was 4. could not let it go

stood in line at the Kroger off 12th street and this cashier confidently said half of 10% is 4% so 80 bucks becomes 76. I didn't say anything but I did the math in my head four times. has anyone else just quietly corrected things in their head and it made the whole trip weird?

Man that would bug me all day too. Sometimes you just gotta let the wrong math go.
