My coworker's 70/30 split rule backfired on the group dinner bill

She insisted we split the tab by who ate what, but she forgot the tax and tip math, so we all ended up paying $4 extra each and the waiter got stiffed. Has anyone else had a 'fair' split that somehow turned into the worst math fail?

Wait, she forgot the tax and tip math? That's literally the whole point of splitting a bill fairly. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how someone can be that precise about who ate what but then just ignore the 20% tip plus sales tax. So she's adding up everyone's individual dishes to the penny, but then the actual total comes out different and she's like "whatever, just divide the difference." And the waiter got stiffed on top of it? That's the real crime. Like, congratulations on your "fair" split, but the person who actually served you all just lost out because you wanted to be the math police. I would've been so annoyed having to dig out another $4 after we already settled up.

Reminds me of the time my cousin brought a scale to weigh everyone's steak at a BBQ, total chaos.
