Just realized the viral 'never wash your jeans' take is missing one huge thing
There's a post going around saying you should freeze your jeans instead of washing them to save water and keep the color. I tried it for two weeks with one pair, and by day 10 they smelled like a wet dog that rolled in gym socks, so I broke down and washed them anyway. The take ignores that freezing does nothing to oils and sweat, it just makes them cold and stinky. People keep sharing it like it's a life hack when it's really just a way to avoid doing laundry. Has anyone actually made freezing work for more than a week without gagging?
Did you also fall for the "just air them out overnight" part of that post? I did the freezer thing too, and mine came out stiff as cardboard and still smelled like old sweat. The cold maybe slows down the smell for a day, then it comes back worse once they warm up on your legs. Sweat and body oil don't just disappear because it's cold, so you're basically just chilling a dirty pair of pants.
