I was at a BBQ spot last Tuesday and told him local news is dead because nobody under 40 watches it, but he pulled up a story about a neighborhood zoning vote that got 2,000 people to a city council meeting after one segment ran. He showed me how the algorithm feeds off the drama segments but the real civic impact comes from those dull 6 PM reports. Anyone else had their assumptions about a dying format flipped by seeing it work in person?
