That 'left lane is for passing only' stat I found in a state DMV manual surprised me
I was looking up something about license renewals on my state's DMV website around 2 AM last Tuesday. I clicked into their driver handbook PDF just to kill time. Turns out, in my state, the law actually says you can get a ticket for just cruising in the left lane, even if you're going the speed limit. The manual quoted the exact statute and mentioned a $145 fine. I always figured that rule was more of a courtesy thing, not something enforced with a dollar amount. It made me rethink every slow left-lane driver I've ever tailgated about. Has anyone else found a random legal detail in an official source that flipped a common road pet peeve on its head?

Wait, a $145 fine for just cruising in the left lane? That's wild, I thought it was just a courtesy thing too.
