Appreciation post: my buddy in Fresno swore the housing market would crash in 2021 and rented for 4 more years
He sat me down at a diner off Van Ness and said buying at 3% was 'the dumbest move of the decade,' so I listened and waited it out with him. Last week he signed a lease renewal at $2,200 a month, up from $1,500, while the place I almost bought is worth about $120k more than the asking price. Anyone else got a confident friend whose 'just wait' advice aged like milk?
Did he actually lose though, or did he just pay less than you did each month and keep his down payment in the bank? Timing the market is a fool's game, but so is acting like one bad call means the whole way of thinking was wrong.
