I found a stat from 1994 that says 67% of people leave the toilet seat up, and my whole family owes me an apology
So my brother in law has been riding me for years about this, saying I'm the weird one for putting the seat down. We were at his place in Fresno for a bbq last month and he brought it up AGAIN in front of like 8 people. So I went digging that night, mostly out of spite, and found this old survey result from 1994 in a bathroom fixture trade magazine that got quoted in a plumbing forum I lurk on. It said 67% of people in shared homes leave the seat however they want, meaning the down position is not some universal rule people act like it is. I printed the page out and taped it to his fridge. The look on his face was worth every minute of searching. I'm not even saying I'm right about the seat, I'm saying the confidence he had was built on nothing. Has anyone else found an old source that killed an argument someone was way too sure about?
