My buddy called my "life changing" productivity take the worst thing he'd ever seen, and he was right
Last week I posted in a group chat that the secret to getting stuff done is just waking up at 4:30am every single day, and my buddy Dave replied with a screenshot of me complaining about being tired at 9pm three nights in a row. He said, and I quote, "you don't have a schedule, you have a bedtime you ignore." I sat with that for a day and got kind of mad because it was true. I had been treating 4:30am like a magic trick when really I was just sleeping 5 hours a night and bragging about it. So I switched to 6:15am and actually going to bed when I say I will, and I've kept it up for 19 days straight now. The wild part is I get more done because I'm not a zombie by noon. So what's the worst "just do this one thing" advice you've ever given someone with a straight face? I need to feel less alone here.
you don't have a schedule, you have a bedtime you ignore" is honestly one of the meanest things I have ever read and I am stunned Dave dropped that in a group chat like it was nothing. That man did not have to go that hard on a random Tuesday, but he was so right it hurts. The part that gets me is you were sleeping 5 hours and calling it a life hack, because I did the exact same thing with a 5am alarm for like two months. I told everyone it was discipline and then fell asleep at my desk twice before lunch. How did Dave not crack up watching you brag about being tired all day?
