My uncle in Tucson told me to stop backing into parking spots because it wastes gas, and I believed him for 2 years
He said idling while you reverse burns more fuel than just pulling in forward, which sounds reasonable until you realize pulling forward out of a spot later costs the same minutes. I checked my own fill ups over 3 months and the difference was under a dollar total, so now I back in everywhere out of spite. What's the dumbest car tip a family member gave you that you followed way too long?
