Hot take: any "office" that still uses paper timesheets is just begging for payroll mistakes every single week

I audited a friend's small bakery last spring and found 14 hours of payroll errors in just one pay period because the owner was using a clipboard and pen instead of a simple app, has anyone else dealt with a boss who refuses to switch from paper?

Worked with a guy last year who insisted on paper timesheets because "the computer system crashed once in 2019." @simon_carr pretty much nailed it with the pet rock comparison. He had us fill out these carbon copy forms every Friday and he'd manually add up the hours on a calculator at his desk. Two months in we found out he'd been shorting a part-timer about 3 hours every week because he kept adding wrong. Made me appreciate even the clunkiest time clock app after that.

Did they give a reason for sticking with paper, like being afraid of technology or just nostalgic for smudged handwriting? I swear some people think a spreadsheet is a magical spell that will erase their data. At this point, a pet rock would be more efficient than a paper timesheet for payroll lol.
