Paid $200 for a 'premium' travel router, worst money I've spent this year

Picked it up in Berlin last month based on a YouTube review, but it keeps dropping connections in hostels where my old $30 one worked fine. Has anyone else shelled out for gear that made your trip WORSE instead of better?
