Remember when people thought ordering pizza online was sketchy

I remember back in 2007 my buddy tried to order a pizza from Pizza Hut's website and my roommate freaked out saying someone would steal his credit card info. Fast forward to 2024 and I just ordered a deep dish from Dominos on my phone while sitting on the bus, didn't even think twice about it. Anyone else remember when people were that scared to type their card number into a website?

Me and my roommates back in 2009 split a pizza order online for the first time and I remember literally holding my breath when I hit submit. We all stood around that chunky Dell monitor watching the loading bar like it was gonna detonate. Now I've got my card saved on three apps and I barely look at the screen when I confirm orders on the train.

Remember sitting there nervously hitting submit on a Pizza Hut order in 2006, watching that little loading wheel spin forever and thinking you just gave your life savings to some guy in Romania. Now I've got my credit card saved on five different food delivery apps and let my phone auto-fill the CVV code without even looking. The same people who were terrified of pizza websites are now willingly letting DoorDash track their location in real time. We went from "absolutely not putting that number in a browser" to "here's my full address and a picture of my front door, just leave the bagel bites on the mat.

Yeah but honestly the pizza websites were way sketchier back then. Like half of them didn't even have proper SSL certificates or whatever. I still remember that weird green bar or the little lock icon being a big deal. Now we just type our whole lives into apps without a second thought because the companies have built up that trust over years. It's wild how fast we went from scared to completely careless with our info.
