Saw a tweet claiming $5 footlongs are coming back to Subway and called my old manager

Last Tuesday I stumbled on a viral tweet saying Subway is bringing back the $5 footlong nationwide. I got excited for a second but something felt off. I used to manage a Subway in Phoenix for 3 years and know how these promos work. So I called up my old district manager and he laughed. He said that rumor has been floating around since 2018 but it's never happening with current meat prices. Has anyone else fallen for one of those fake fast food comeback posts?

Fell for one of those Taco Bell quesadilla comeback rumors last year and almost drove across town before I realized it was from a parody account. My girlfriend still brings it up every time we pass a Taco Bell, lol. Guess I'm just an easy mark for cheap fast food nostalgia.
