TIL a guy at a gaming convention in Columbus argued that reviews are 'just opinions' and shouldn't count as bad takes
I was at a small board game convention in Columbus back in March, standing in line for a demo, when this guy behind me started going off about how a negative review of a popular game was 'unfair' because the reviewer just had a bad experience. He kept saying that unless a game is broken or unplayable, calling it bad is basically lying. I asked him if he thought a restaurant could be bad even if the food was cooked right, and he said no, that's just picky. Then he said the real problem is people posting 'bad takes' are just mad they lost. I stood there for like 10 minutes listening to this, and it hit me that half the bad takes I see online come from people who think their personal good time cancels out someone else's bad time. Now I screenshot stuff like that and drop it here. Has anyone else run into the 'it worked for me so you're wrong' crowd at a con or game night?
