Question about the 3 weeks I lost to a RollerJam marathon on a hotel TV in Reno
So last week I was stuck in a Reno hotel for work with a busted laptop charger, and the only thing on at 11pm was RollerJam reruns from 1999. I told myself I'd watch one episode, then the roller derby team called the "Sirens" lost a bout to a team in sparkly shirts and I had to see if they came back. Three weeks later I'm home and still pulling up clips, ranking the fake feuds, and my wife caught me googling where the show was taped. The part that kills me is the announcer hyping a "rivalry" between two skaters who clearly just met that day, and I ate it up anyway. There's something about a show that was clearly rushed onto TV to cash in on a trend that makes it perfect background noise. Am I the only one who falls into these old competition shows, or does anyone have a worse one that hooked them for weeks?
Three weeks on a show that got canceled in one season? Sounds less like a hidden gem and more like you just refused to touch the remote. Those fake feuds were garbage and you know it, the sparkly shirts were the only honest thing on that screen.
