The cashier at Kroger made me defend my NCIS addiction out loud
Last Tuesday I was buying a 12 pack of soda and some frozen pizza, and the cashier saw my NCIS lanyard keychain. She laughed and said, "You actually watch that still? It's been 20 years of the same plot." I froze for a second, then launched into a full defense about how Gibbs's team feels like old friends and the comfort beats the formula. She just shrugged and said her comfort show is Judge Judy reruns, so I guess we all have our thing. What's the show you've had to justify to a stranger and how did you spin it?

Honestly same, I got grilled by my barber once for wearing a Criminal Minds hoodie and had to explain that yes, I know every episode has a serial killer with a weird backstory but that's kind of the point lol. I told him it's like hanging out with the same group of friends every night, you already know their jokes and their habits, and that's exactly what makes it relaxing. He said his version of that is watching people get roasted on Kitchen Nightmares, so I guess we both just like predictable chaos in our own way. Once you frame it as a comfort thing people usually back off pretty quick.
