A stranger's burnt loaf made me feel better about my own kitchen

Last Tuesday I was pulling a slightly lopsided sourdough out of my oven and it just looked sad, all flat and pale. Then I saw a post from someone in Portland who said their loaf came out with a crust so dark it looked like a hockey puck, and they were ready to quit baking altogether. Funny thing is, that made me think about how we only ever see the pretty pictures online, not the ten practice runs behind them. I've been baking bread for about 8 months now, and my first 6 loaves were basically bricks, I fed my starter wrong for weeks before I got it right. That stranger's fail reminded me that everyone has their rough days, even the pros who post those perfect crumb shots. So I scooped out the center of my sad loaf, toasted it with butter, and it was actually pretty good. Has anyone else ever had a so-called disaster turn into their favorite snack by accident? I'm curious what your worst looking but best tasting bake was.
