After ten years, I bake everything with just cups

I've baked for years without a kitchen scale, just using measuring cups. My cakes, cookies, and breads always turn out how I want them, so I don't see the need for extra gadgets. Why do so many bakers insist that weighing ingredients is the only right way?

Honestly, it just seems like a weird hill to die on. If cups work for you, great, keep using them. But telling people a scale has no real gain is just wrong. A cup of flour can be a totally different amount depending on how you scoop it, even if you level it. That messes with the whole recipe. For stuff like bread, that difference can ruin it. So yeah, maybe your cookies are fine, but that doesn't make the other way pointless.

Stopped using a scale after my first year because it felt like an extra, messy step for no real gain. My cups are always leveled off with a straight edge, and my cakes and cookies come out perfectly consistent. I honestly believe the "weigh everything" crowd just overcomplicates a simple process that works fine for home bakers. If your results are good, there's zero reason to bother.

Heard a baker say cups can pack flour differently.

That consistency matters way more than the specific measuring tool you pick.
