Just tossed a $15 jar of fancy vanilla paste that was basically brown water

I bought it online after seeing a baker on video rave about it, but it had zero flavor compared to my regular extract. Has anyone found a brand that's actually worth the hype?

Saw a whole thread on a baking forum about this. People were saying some brands use a ton of filler like sugar syrup. The good ones list vanilla bean seeds right at the top of the ingredients.

Feel your pain so hard, that stings. I had the exact same thing happen with a "premium" brand last year. It's such a letdown when you spend that much and get basically flavored water. Makes you want to just stick with the basic extract from the grocery store forever.
