Making croissants for the first time and ended up with butter puddles on the floor of my kitchen in Portland last winter

A winter in Portland means that butter puddle could've been a nice little skating rink in the middle of your kitchen, which is more dangerous than people let on. I've slipped on way less than a puddle of butter and cracked my elbow, so I'd say it's worth a bit of cleanup drama. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather overreact to a butter spill than underreact and end up in urgent care.

Butter puddles on the floor... sounds more like a slip hazard than a tragedy. Is it really that bad though?

People get dramatic about the weirdest stuff... it's just butter. If it's a puddle then yeah maybe wipe it up before someone breaks their neck, but acting like it's some huge deal is a stretch.
