My banana bread went from burnt to perfect after I started using an oven thermometer
For three years I kept burning the outside of my banana bread while the inside stayed raw. Turns out my oven runs 50 degrees hotter than what the dial says. Picked up a $7 oven thermometer at Target, and now I set it to 300 instead of 350. Has anyone else found a big temp difference in their home oven?

I was totally the opposite, I thought the whole oven thermometer thing was a gimmick until I finally caved and bought one. Now I'm annoyed at myself for all that wasted time burning stuff!

Oh nice, so now you get to enjoy being mad at your past self and your oven at the same time.

Three different pizzas came out looking like charcoal briquettes before I finally broke down and got one. My oven says 350 but it's actually running at 420, which explains a lot about my failed cookie attempts. I keep the thermometer right in the middle rack now and it's saved me from burning another batch of muffins. The funny thing is I still check it twice because I don't trust my own oven anymore.
