Rant: my grandma's boxed cake mix trick beats my 2 hour scratch recipe
I spent about 2 hours last Saturday making a chocolate cake from scratch with cake flour and melted chocolate, and my grandma made hers in 10 minutes with a $2 box mix plus a spoon of mayo, and hers got eaten first. I always believed scratch was the only real way to bake, but here I was with a dry crumbly cake next to her moist one, and my uncle said 'thats the one' while pointing at hers. So is the box mix mayo thing actually a known trick or did she just get lucky with me messing up my bake?
