Sourdough starter discard pancakes that turned into hockey pucks
I was at my sister's place in Denver trying her famous discard recipe, but I forgot to add the baking soda and the pancakes came out so dense they clanked on the plate. Had to laugh it off and order takeout - has anyone else forgotten a key ingredient and just rolled with the disaster?

Oh man, what a save (literally going out for takeout). I've done the same thing with banana bread before, forgot the eggs and it turned into a doorstop. You just stand there looking at it like, "well, this is happening." At least you had the good sense to laugh and order something.

Baking fails are just life's way of reminding us we're not perfect. It's like how I can't fold a fitted sheet to save my life, I just ball it up and shove it in the linen closet. Same thing with forgetting to charge my phone overnight, you wake up and scramble for the charger while holding it at a weird angle. We all have those little things where our brain just refuses to cooperate. At least with takeout, you get a hot meal without the cleanup.

Man I feel this in my soul. I tried making pancakes from a box mix once at like midnight and forgot the water entirely, ended up with these sad little crumbly disks that fell apart when I tried to flip them. Takeout was the right call, sometimes you just gotta wave the white flag and let someone else handle dinner.
