TIL my oven's temperature is off by 25 degrees

I've been baking cookies for years, but lately they keep burning on the bottom, go figure. I used an oven thermometer and found out it's running hot. It's annoying because my favorite recipe used to be foolproof. Any advice on fixing this or is my oven just having a midlife crisis?

Twenty-five degrees is actually a huge deal for baking. It changes how things like butter and flour react in the oven. You really can't just fix it by adjusting the time for most recipes.

25 degrees off doesn't seem that bad to me. My last oven was way worse and I just changed the baking time. Maybe try lowering the temp a bit and see if that helps.

Read that even a 25 degree difference can ruin baked goods. Pastry experts say temp control is key for consistency. I wouldn't just adjust time without checking first.
