Watched my sourdough go from a beautiful dome to a flat pancake in 45 minutes flat

Turns out forgetting to score the top before baking traps the steam inside and makes it collapse halfway through, has anyone else had this happen with a new recipe?

Did you try slashing the top with a knife right before it goes in?

Watching your bread deflate like that is basically a baking betrayal. Next time just give it a couple slits with a sharp knife and you'll be good.

My last loaf slashed itself trying to imitate @daniel_cooper34's technique and ended up looking like a sad balloon animal.
