Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to temper chocolate properly

I spent a solid 2 hours last weekend trying to get my chocolate to the right consistency for dipping strawberries, and it still ended up with weird streaks. Turns out I was rushing the cooling step, has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on this?

Two hours is nothing for a hobby you supposedly enjoy. People act like tempering chocolate is some mythical art form when really it's just following a temperature chart and not getting impatient. Plenty of folks throw chocolate in the microwave, stir it a bit, and get perfectly fine results for dipping fruit. If you want perfect glossy professional results every time then yeah you gotta put in the time. But if you're just making snacks for your family who cares about a few streaks.

I mean, if you can't follow a simple temperature chart maybe baking isn't for you.

Used to think folks were being dramatic about tempering but Bailey Jennifer made me totally reconsider.
