A barber in Savannah was using a straight razor for almost everything
I was down there last week and watched him do a full haircut and beard trim with just that and a comb. Has anyone else moved away from clippers for most of their work?

That's a cool trick for a show, but it's not practical for a real barbershop. Most guys want a consistent fade or a quick trim, and clippers are just faster and more exact for that. Trying to do everything with a straight razor would triple the time per customer and probably cost the barber a lot of money. It's a neat skill, but it feels more like a tourist thing than a smart way to run a business.

Exactly Ollie, you nailed it. There's a reason clippers took over, they are just faster and give a cleaner result for most customers. A straight razor fade might look impressive on video but in a busy shop that's just a recipe for long waits and unhappy guys. People come in for a consistent cut they can count on, not a performance that might not turn out the same way twice. It's a cool party trick, sure, but running a business on that would be a risky move. Completely agree with you on that.

Honestly, I saw a barber do a full razor fade and it was shockingly fast.
