Am I the only barber who hit 500 haircuts in a month and felt kinda empty about it?

I finally crossed 500 cuts last March, and everyone acts like that's the big goal. But honestly my hands hurt more than my pride felt good, and I realized I was rushing through clients just to hit a number. Has anyone else ever hit a milestone and realized it didn't mean what you thought it would?

wait so are you saying you made less money overall rushing through them, or did you actually hit your numbers but just felt burned out at the end of it? cause i feel like that's two totally different problems lol

500 cuts drained the same way leveling up in a game does when you realize you're just grinding for a number not the fun itself. @matthew371 hit it right on the head too, burning out for a stat boost is never worth it.

Same thing happens with people who obsess over credit scores. They make every financial move just to bump the number up instead of actually building real wealth or security. Seen it in fitness too - guys chasing a certain bench press number but their shoulders are wrecked. Numbers are just markers, not the goal itself.
