Bought a $200 clipper set and it died in 3 months

I grabbed a cordless set off Amazon with great reviews, figured it would save me trips to the shop for tune ups. By week 8 the motor started slowing down, and by week 12 it just stopped spinning mid haircut. Anyone else had a cordless clipper fail way faster than a corded one?

Did you check if the blades were clogged with hair before it died completely?

Oh please, @max_cooper21, a blade clog won't stop a motor from burning out on its own.

Tbh it's not really about hair clogging the blades, that's more of a maintenance thing you'd notice way before the motor dies. With cordless clippers, the real killer is usually the battery or the motor burning out from heat buildup, especially if you're using it for longer cuts. That $200 price point on Amazon often means you're getting a decent brand but the battery cells might be cheap Chinese ones that can't handle regular use. I've seen it happen with a Wahl and Oster cordless set that was well reviewed but had a plastic gear inside that just gave up. So it's probably not on you, more like the factory cut corners on the internal parts knowing most people won't use it daily.
