Client asked for the same fade as his old barber, so I studied the guy's Instagram for a month
A regular named Marcus kept asking for a fade like his old barber did, so instead of guessing I pulled up the shop's Instagram and studied 40 of their cuts. I figured out they were using a 1.5 guard higher up and fading down with the clipper open, not the usual way I was taught. First time I tried it I still left a line at the temple, second time it came out clean and Marcus said it was better than the original. Curious if anyone else here has copied a rival shop's technique just from photos, or is that crossing a line?
