Clipped a kid's ear last Tuesday and had to figure out how to fix it fast
I was 40 minutes into a busy Tuesday at my shop here in Boise, and this 7 year old named Marcus was squirming in the chair like crazy. Mom kept saying he's fine, he's fine, but he jerked right as I went in with the trimmer above his ear and nicked him just a little. Not bad, barely a scratch, but it bled and the kid started crying and mom went quiet in that way that tells you she's not happy. I stayed calm, put a little styptic on it, held pressure for about 30 seconds, and told Marcus he was tougher than I was at his age. Then I slowed everything down and did the rest with scissors and comb only, talked to him about his Minecraft shirt the whole time, and his fade came out cleaner than it would have with the clippers anyway. Mom tipped me $10 and said she'd be back in 3 weeks. Any of you got a go-to move for a wiggly kid who won't sit still?
