I used to think a hot towel was just a nice extra, not a real part of the cut

For years, I'd just do a quick splash of water before a shave and call it good. Then, about six months ago, I watched an old barber in Chicago steam a towel for a full three minutes before applying it. He told me, 'The heat opens everything up, the moisture softens the hair, it's not a show, it's prep.' I started doing it properly, and the difference in how the razor glides is night and day. My clients notice it too, they say the shave feels cleaner and lasts longer. Anyone else have a small step they added that made a big difference?

That hot towel step is a total game changer.

My barber does that and it honestly makes the whole haircut feel fancy.

Ever think it helps with the skin more than the hair?
