Old guy at the barber shop told me my fades were too high, he was right

I had this retired barber named Frank watch me work on a client in Denver about 2 months ago. He straight up said I was taking the blend too high on the sides, leaving a hard line that wouldn't soften out. I dropped my fade starting point by about an inch and a half and now my transitions look way smoother. Anyone else have a random customer drop some real knowledge on you like that?

Ha, right? @blair70 I swear Frank thinks every guy walking in wants a #1 all over and pays extra for the "signature fade". Dude tried to sell me a beard trim once and I barely have chin fuzz. Like just give me the clippers and let me out of here in ten minutes, not twenty for a upsell seminar. But honestly I still go back because he's the only one who doesn't mess up my cowlick. You picking a new barber or just sticking with Frank and ignoring the pitch?

Frank's upselling is like a reflex at this point. Walk in for a quick trim, walk out with a pitch for the "premium package". Still, you gotta respect a barber who knows how to handle a cowlick without making it look like a landing strip.
