Pro tip: That $40 clipper blade sharpening kit saved my whole setup

Picked up a Wahl sharpening kit off Amazon after my main clippers started pulling hair. Took me about 20 minutes to figure out the angle right on my old blade. Cheaper than buying new blades every month and my cuts are way cleaner now. Anybody else tried sharpening their own blades or is that just me?

Did you have any trouble getting the angle just right on the first try? I found that going slow with a light touch made all the difference, and I check my blade with a piece of paper to see if it's cutting clean before I put it back on the clippers. Another thing that helped me was wiping the blade down with rubbing alcohol first to get any old oil off, makes it easier to see what you're doing.

Going slow with a light touch" - that's solid advice. I had a buddy who tried to rush through sharpening his hedge trimmers once and ended up with a blade that was more dull than when he started, had to buy a whole new set.

Nah, it's just sharpening clippers. Doesn't need to be that precise.
