That moment I dropped a straight razor on a client's cape
Last Thursday I was in Buffalo doing a shave and my hand slipped right as I reached for the balm. Razor hit the cape near their neck, no cut, but we both froze for a second. Has anyone else had that heart-stopping close call and how did you handle the silence after?

Honestly, is it really that big of a deal?

Three parking lots were full and I still had to circle for 20 minutes just to find a spot. So yeah, it's kind of a big deal when you show up late and expect everyone to just be cool about it. Everyone's time is worth something, and "it's just coffee" doesn't cut it when I've got places to be. You're basically saying your 15 minutes of sleep matter more than the rest of us standing around with cold drinks. Next time just text ahead and save us the awkward silence.

Yeah I used to be one of those people who'd just shrug it off when stuff like that happened, thinking "hey no harm no foul." But then I had a close call myself a couple years back where I nearly dropped a hot trimmer right on a client's ear and it completely changed my perspective. That split second where you both just stare at each other waiting to see if something bad happened is brutal. Now I get why people get tense about those moments, because it's not just about the physical risk it's that you broke the trust for a second and you have to earn it back. The silence after is just everyone processing what could have gone wrong.
