Tried a new clipper oil on an older Oster 76 and did not expect the noise difference

I picked up some of that Wahl blade oil instead of my usual Andis stuff at a shop in Austin last week. Swapped it in on my Oster 76 that has been rattling for months, and it got way quieter almost instantly. I always thought clipper noise was just wear and tear, not the oil. Has anyone else noticed a big change swapping between brands of lubricant?

Honestly, I think people overthink this stuff. I've used whatever oil I had lying around for years and never noticed a difference. Probably just placebo.

Funny you mention placebo, @smith.elliot, but there's something about how different oils handle heat that's pretty real. Olive oil smokes at lower temps and can taste burnt, while avocado oil handles high heat way better and stays neutral. That right there changes the texture of whatever you're cooking, and that's not in your head.

48k miles on a single batch of whatever generic vegetable oil was on sale at the pilot truck stop. Truck ran fine the whole time. But I also wasn't searing a steak in my engine block. There's a difference between just burning fuel and cooking something you have to eat. Burnt oil taste is real. Try frying an egg in olive oil then one in canola back to back. You'll notice.
