Vent: everyone pushing $400 clippers on new guys is doing them wrong
Had a kid come in last week asking if he needed the newest Magic Clip because some Instagram barber swore it was the only way to get clean fades. I told him to grab the $60 corded Oster and learn to use his comb and wrists first. Has anyone else noticed the gear hype hurting more than helping, or am I just old fashioned?

A $400 clipper will not make a bad barber good, but a good barber with a cheap clipper will still hit a wall pretty fast. The cheap corded Oster gets hot, pulls hair, and the blade dulls quick, which means the kid spends his first year fighting his tools instead of learning fades. Let the new guy buy something decent and spend his energy on reps, not on workarounds.
