DAE use the 3 day 'right to cancel' rule to test pricey gear and just return it?
Bought a $1,200 kayak at a store in Austin and the clerk said I had 3 days to bring it back for any reason, no restocking fee, so I took it out twice on the lake and returned it before the deadline. Turns out the same policy covers almost anything at big box stores as long as you keep the box and receipt, which feels like a free rental but I am not sure where the line is. Has anyone actually gotten flagged or banned from a store for doing this too many times?
What's the actual store policy say though, like is it written down or did the clerk just tell you that? Most places have fine print that lets them refuse returns if they think you're abusing it, and managers talk to each other. Did you check if the kayak company keeps a record of your returns tied to your ID or card?
