My lease says I can't have pets, so my landlord just calls my turtle a 'decorative water feature'
Found out 4 months into my lease that the pet clause only lists cats and dogs, so my landlord said my turtle Gary doesn't count and told me to quit worrying about it. He even put it in writing for $0, which means Gary is technically furniture now. Anyone else have a lease with a weird gap like this?
My last place had a clause about "water beds" that was written back in 1987. The landlord told me my 10 gallon fish tank was fine because it wasn't a bed, even though it leaked once and soaked the carpet. I pointed out the tank held more water than a water bed, and he just shrugged and said the lease only banned the beds. His exact words were "the carpet guy won't know the difference." So now I always read the fine print twice before signing anything.
