Old HVAC warranty saved me $1,800 on a rental repair
I spent six weeks chasing a utility lien on a property I bought, turns out the previous owner had a $400 water bill from 2019 that never got recorded properly. The city clerk kept sending me to different offices until I found a 1979 ordinance that let me pay 10% to clear it if the original owner was dead. Ended up costing me $40 and a notary fee, but I got a clean title. Has anyone else dug into old municipal codes to wipe out a surprise lien?
