Question about the 120 day rule I saw play out at a county auction in Ohio
I was at a county surplus auction near Dayton back in March and watched a guy buy a repo'd box truck for $1,800. He told me he flips them and never files the title transfer if he sells within 120 days, just passes the signed title along. The clerk at the counter said the state only starts caring when you hit that window, so people treat it like a free pass. But if the next buyer never registers it and racks up tolls or a wreck, the paper trail points right back at whoever's name is still on it. I've seen two guys do this at the same lot with trailers, and one of them got a letter 8 months later about a parking ticket in Kentucky. Is the 120 day thing state by state or does it work the same in most places?
