Just hit $7,500 on my master bath reno and I'm not even done with the demo

I was trying to keep this whole remodel under $10k but here I am at $7,500 already and I haven't even picked out tile yet. The plumber alone cost me $1,200 just to move the shower drain over 18 inches. I guess I didn't realize how fast those little things like permits and new shutoff valves add up. Has anyone else blown past their budget before they even got to the fun part?

$1,200 for an 18 inch drain move sounds like a lot.

Hold up, is a bathroom reno really worth stressing over $7,500 before the tile's even picked? Permits and moving drains are just the cost of doing business, not a disaster.

Right? $7,500 is nothing for a bathroom reno. I dropped $9,200 on mine last year and the permit for moving the shower drain was $1,500 alone. Tile was another $2,800 and that was mid-grade. Stressing over that amount before picking tile is just wasting energy. It's all part of the deal.
