Serious question, does anyone actually check caulk for mold before they buy a new tube?
I was at Home Depot last week picking up supplies for my bathroom remodel and I noticed half the caulk tubes on the shelf had that black speckling on the nozzle. Like, it was already growing mold before I even bought it. I ended up checking like 8 tubes before I found one that looked clean. Am I the only one who does this or do people just accept the moldy caulk and hope for the best?

Has anyone else actually stood there in the aisle like a weirdo squeezing tubes to see if mold shoots out first? @pat_roberts55 is messing around but it's a legit hassle when you finally get home and find out your "clean" caulk is already growing stuff. I do the same thing now after getting burned once, it's just common sense.

Half the time the problem isn't even visible until you get home and cut the tip off. Did you ever find a reliable brand that doesn't seem to sit on shelves long enough to go bad, or do you just squeeze-test every single tube you pick up now?
